Teaching

Pedagogy

My teaching is rooted in clarity, care, and collaboration. I help students see the “big picture” from the start—whether writing a final paper or imagining the path of a Ph.D.—and then break down the process into manageable steps so that they feel confident and supported along the way. I view the classroom as a learning community where knowledge is co-created, and I design activities that make space for everyone’s contributions, from group projects to shared class resources. Because sociology often tackles sensitive topics like gender, race, and inequality, I also provide tools and discussion practices that help students engage with rigor and respect. Above all, my goal is for students to leave my classes with a strong sociological toolkit, a sense of belonging, and the confidence to connect what they learn to the world around them.
